Living in a stressful, fast paced culture that values male ideals such as competitiveness, control and domination can confuse and dis-empower women. Confused as to what is appropriate feminine behavior, many women become over-involved in caretaking others, are afraid to say no, or to set healthy boundaries. Unsatisfied needs and/or unexpressed rage can lead to fatigue, indecisiveness, a lack of enthusiasm and depression. Or it can manifest as the martyr, the victim, the saboteur or the “bitch.” These negative character traits are destructive whether we act them out, or are victimized by them when they erupt in others.
Joy Reichard, Behavior Remodelist, helps women reframe or eliminate self-limiting beliefs, attitudes or behaviors that keep them from achieving their full potential. Using a variety of gentle but effective hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioral techniques, Joy enables her clients to identify and break through psychological and emotional barriers that keep them stuck and block their success. While working with Joy her clients discover inner resources, develop core strengths, reinforce desired behaviors and strengthen their motivation to achieve goals and desires. Joy’s extensive training, adept interpersonal and intuitive skills and her calm reassuring presence creates a safe environment for her clients while they evolve into more fulfilled and empowered women.

In Her Name Circles
The Women’s Spirituality Master’s Program, which has recently moved to the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, awakened me to the power of female deity images. The myths and images of goddesses from around the globe contain many teachings that can inspire and empower women. In 2006 I began presenting a 5-part series entitled “Embracing the Goddess Within.” From my Goddess talks, I recognized a growing need for women to gather together for the purpose of honoring the Divine Feminine and each other. The voice of the Sacred Feminine is re-emerging in human consciousness bringing with it a new vision of the sacredness and unity of life. Goddess mythology from many cultures offers rich symbolism and powerful role models to both women and men. Her message is one of peace, compassion, and respect for all life. To acknowledge and share this message I lead a monthly Circle in San Mateo, California. Please see the schedule for 2009 below. For more information, please contact me. (Note that you may now purchase audio recordings of the Circles.)

Embracing the Goddess Within
Reclaiming the Sacred Feminine
- Was God once a woman? If so, who was She?
- How can reclaiming the Goddess within help you connect to your strength and power?
Despite the undeniable progress of female equality, the media and advertisers still demean women or distort the essence of femaleness. Women are confused about how to be strong and claim their power. Many are turning toward the Sacred Feminine for a better understanding of womanhood. The ancient myths and images of the Goddess speak to attributes that validate female wisdom and power.
I have created a body of work that provides images of female deities as examples of feminine strength, wisdom, and confidence. In various talks, I discuss the lessons we can learn from each Goddess and how we can incorporate their traits into our lives. Please click to the link below to visit the page containing the summary of these talks. To schedule a talk for your club, organization, or school, please contact me.
