Reclaiming
the Sacred Feminine in All Women
- Was God at one time a woman? If so, who was She?
- How can reclaiming the Goddess within help you connect to your inner
strength and power?
During the past 5000 years women lost their connection the Sacred Feminine and their own goddess nature. Despite the advancements in women's rights over the past 100 years, women are portrayed in the media and by advertisers in roles that frequently demean, undermine or warp the essence of femaleness in the 21st century. Women are confused as to what it means to be a strong woman who walks in her power. Many are seeking greater self-knowledge and are turning towards the Sacred Feminine in their hunger for better understanding of their own womanhood. This is because the ancient myths and images of the Goddess speak of the attributes, strengths and capabilities that validate the power of women as women.

SYNOPSIS OF THE GODDESS TALKS
The Neolithic Goddess - The Great Mother - The Cycle of Life
Thanks to the work of Marija Gimbutas who devoted the last years of her
life excavating and researching the Neolithic era of Old Europe (Eastern
and southern Europe, Anatolia (modern Turkey) and Northern Africa), we
know of the ancient Goddess Civilization that thrived from approximately
7000/6000 to 3000 BCE. The Great Mother Goddess religion of these ancient
peoples focused on the wheel of life and its cyclical turning. The focus
of the religion encompassed birth, nurturing, growth, death and regeneration,
as well as crop cultivation and the raising of animals. The people of
this era pondered untamed natural forces, as well as wild plant and animal
cycles, and they worshiped goddesses, or a goddess, in many forms.
In this discussion you will learn about the Great Mother Goddess of the Neolithic era in her many manifestations and view images taken on location in Bulgaria, Serbia and Turkey. You will also learn what history, mythology and archaeological excavations has yielded about the fate of this ancient civilization and how remnants of it has survived in the images and mythology of more recent Goddesses. During a guided visualization you will discover what personal lessons the Great Mother Goddess can offer you today.
Artemis, Goddess of the Amazons - Reclaiming your Feminine Power
Artemis emerged in Greek mythology as the daughter of Zeus and Leto, a
nature deity. There are some interesting connections, however, that link
her back to the Great Goddess of the Neolithic era. Artemis was also worshipped
by the Amazons and played an intriguing role in the fate of Troy in the
Iliad. She is one of the Virgin Goddesses, who chose to retain her independence
and freedom. She is known as the Goddess of the Hunt, Goddess of Childbirth,
Goddess of Agriculture and Goddess of the Moon, and she instructs us about
the importance of our circle of female friends through her companionship
and loyalty to the wood nymphs. Two famous statues of her stand in the
museum near her city of Ephesus in Turkey.
Join us in our discussion of Artemis and learn about the role she played in the Iliad from a Feminist interpretation. View images of Artemis and her temple that were taken on location in Turkey. During a guided visualization you will discover what personal lessons Artemis can offer you today.
Inanna, Queen of heaven and Earth - Renewal and Transformation
Inanna was the Sumerian Goddess of Heaven and Earth. She was worshipped
from 3500 to 500 BCE in Sumeria, which is Iraq today. Much of what we
know about her comes from the poems and hymns written by the priestess-poet,
Enheduanna. Inanna was the Great Mother who nourished her people. It was
she who brought the Me, the laws and keys of civilization to
Sumeria. She was also the Storm Goddess and the Goddess of Death. Inanna
was the paradoxical Goddess because she was all that was benevolent and
abundant as well as all that was destructive. She was a Warrior and the
Goddess of War, as well as the Goddess of Love and Fertility. Inanna is
a great Goddess to be respected and honored.
Join us to hear the famous Sumerian myth, The Descent of Inanna. You will also hear about the Sumerians, the fascinating but vanished civilization that once worshipped her. You will learn the wisdom that Inanna imparted to the Sumerians, and during a guided visualization you will discover what personal lessons Inanna can offer you today.
Shakti, Great Hindu Goddess - Source of Cosmic Energy
The Mother Goddess religious tradition in India dates back to the 4th
millennium BCE or before. She is the power that creates and destroys,
and She is the womb from which all things precede and to which they will
return. The tradition of Mother Goddess worship in India has survived
in the many manifestations of the Hindu Goddesses and in the thealogies
of Shaktism, Tantra and Kali Ma. These traditions recognize the imcompleteness
of the male and female as individual principles. Only together as a unifying
principle can there be fulfillment, unity and bliss.
Join us to discover how embracing your Shakti can help you overcome patriarchal conditioning so that you can face your fears and step into your power. During a guided visualization you will discover what personal lessons Shakti can offer you today.
Spider Woman, The Creatrix - Weaving the Web of Life
In the Native American world view there exists tremendous diversity in
the cultures, beliefs, stories and legends. Many of the legends, however,
feature a first woman, or women who is frequently the Spider Woman, or
Grandmother Spider, who weaves the web of life. Dispite the diversity,
several main themes exists in Native American culture, two of which are
the daily human relationship to spirit and the close connection to nature.
The Native American culture has endured through 500 years of colonization
in which there was an intense and focused attempt to exterminate it. Rather
than being the hostile society deserving eradication, the Native American
culture is primarily gynocratic, meaning woman-center, in which diversity
and tolerance is accepted. Personal expression is encouraged, children
are protected, motherhood is honored, woman are valued beyond their procreative
abilities, and there is a deep conviction that the earth is the mother
and must be protected and preserved.
Through stories, facts and insights, Joy attempts to impart a truer understanding of both the Native American Culture and Spider Woman. During a guided visualization you will discover what personal lessons Spider Woman can offer you today.
